Chapters (17)
“Alright then,” Lucas said. With that, he selected the third option to let the people self-govern. All he could do now was hope that the town would generate more people over time. He also had a sneaking suspicion that Smash and his appetite were a chief reason why Fulda, which had originally been bigger than most of the other starting towns, was currently lowest in population.
When he selected the menu, he saw his own dungeon’s net Territorial Income increase by 7.4 gold.
For allowing the people in one of your territories to self-govern, you have earned a new suffix: The Democratic. This suffix will slightly increase your favorability among non-ruling class members in self-governing territories and boosts your Charisma with them by 10.
Current Suffix: The Murderer. Effect: None.
Would you like to switch suffixes? [Yes / No]
Note: You may switch suffixes at any point in the future.
Lucas looked at the suffix and decided to ignore it. “The Murderer” was a much more appropriate title for a villain than “The Democratic.” Even though I’ll take a small hit with my story quests, I probably should keep that title, Lucas thought as he pulled up his Dungeon Menu and started to browse through the upgrades again.
The first thing he checked was his ten-man guard patrols. That’s what I’m talking about, Lucas thought as he saw their Player Subjugation Rate had risen from under 5% to a little over 12%. It still wasn’t anything to write home about, but it was impressive. Two of the guards had even reached Level 3, and with the Basic Training option having been completed, their Attack Value was listed at 11. Of those points, there were 5 points as the base, 2 from levels, 1 from using two-handed weapons, 2 from the nicer weapons he had purchased for them, and 1 final point from the Basic Training. The guards’ Attack Value was over 120% higher than when they had started.
Not satisfied with the 12%, Lucas checked how much was in his territorial coffers and saw that the number was at 117 gold this time. He took that cash and immediately dumped it all into armor upgrades for 5 of the 10 guards. Each high-quality steel armor cost 20 gold. He then took the remaining cash he had and bought one more weapon to make sure that every person had one.
