A few minutes later, there was a knock on the door.

“Lucas, some people showed up with four unconscious guys,” Nick called from the other side of the door. “Said they need to go in the prison. But we don’t have a prison, do we? Also, there are a bunch of people with mining equipment here. They look really frustrated and said you told them there was work that needed doing. You wanna take care of that?”

“Nick, I’m going to stab you,” Bonnie said angrily from behind Lucas. “I’m going to stab you when you least expect it.”

“What?” Nick asked from the opposite side of the door. “I didn’t do anything. I’m just reporting what’s happening. If it were up to me, I’d still be in the kitchen trying out our chef’s stuff. That guy is amazing.”

“Well, whatever,” Lucas muttered, snapping back to reality. This scene was just too much for him, and he needed to get back to work. He didn’t have time to sit back and enjoy himself when there was still so much to do.

He stood up and excused himself before anyone else could. He didn’t want to see his wife’s naked body again now that he knew it was being worn by Liu. He moved to grab the clothes Bonnie had provided, and he quickly caught sight of both women blushing.

“Well, it seems he got my money’s worth,” Liu said to Bonnie. “At the very least, we know a part of him was very happy with the treatment.”

Lucas was suddenly aware of exactly why the two were blushing. Whatever. They can stare if they want.

He was surprised that Bonnie had been able to put together an outfit so quickly, but he definitely thought it was nice. There was a sleek black pair of pants with a white shirt befitting a modern-age elite more than a medieval one. She had also prepared a long, black wool overcoat that was a shade lighter than the pants. The clothes were exquisitely tailored despite having been done up in minutes. And, even more impressively, the chainmail easily fit underneath the garments without making the outfit look bulky in the slightest.

“You outdid yourself,” Lucas said to Bonnie as he finished putting it all on.

“Can’t have my boss looking bad,” Bonnie said, beaming with pride at her handiwork as he put it on.

“I don’t think Lucas has looked bad a day in his life,” Liu said from the bath. “Oh, Bonnie, while you’re there, could you add a few more logs to the fire? I don’t want my bath getting cold.”

Bonnie shot Liu an incredulous look but then did as instructed. “Anything else you need?” she asked, snagging one of the mutton skewers while she was on the side of the bath Lucas had just left.

“No, nothing else,” Liu said, waving her away.
