- About the Author
“No, it will be fine. She doesn’t suspect a thing,” he said. Despite the intrigue, and my obvious shock at his words, I didn’t run. I kept my ear pressed to that door because damn it, now I needed to know what the hell he was up to. Oddly enough, not a single cell in my body thought that whatever he was up to would amount to bad things. We were long past that these days. Tucker had worked damn hard to make sure that my first instinct about him, wasn’t one of incrimination. That didn’t mean I wasn’t curious about why he’d blown me off.
“What do you mean? Of course not.” There was a pause on his side of the conversation and then I heard the squeak of his chair as he moved around. The tell-tale sound of footsteps crossing the creaking hardwood floors followed soon after. The same damn floors I attempted to get my husband to carpet in order to cut down on the echo in his office. He refused, and for once, I was happy about that. I moved just in time, as I managed to stand upright and put my hand in the air as if I was about to knock on the office door. He opened it to see me standing there, hand poised in the air, and a grin on my lips.
“Gonna have to call you back in a bit, my wife is here with a surprise for me,” he told whoever was on the other line. Tucker hung up immediately and pulled me into his office. “To what do I owe the great pleasure of seeing you in the sexiest outfit ever?” Many men enjoyed seeing their women in lingerie once in a while, or maybe all the time, I didn’t honestly know the minds of most men. Mine loved to see me in his clothes, especially when all I had on was one of his shirts and a pair of my heels.
“I thought I could convince you that Saturday is open in your schedule,” I explained without even trying to hide my intent. Tucker laughed as he pulled me closer and palmed my ass with one of his hands.
“I certainly won’t turn away your efforts, but I already told you there’s something important this Saturday that can’t be rearranged.”
“What if I told you that I had something important already planned for this weekend too?”
“I would ask you what it is and see if you could reschedule,” he told me. My shoulders slumped in defeat. No matter what I did, it seemed nothing was going to be good enough to get Tucker to change his mind. Sure, I could postpone, or even forgo all the pomp and circumstance and just tell him now, but where was the fun in that?
Instead, I pouted.
“Aww, come on, Mina, you know I wouldn’t blow your Saturday plans off if this wasn’t important,” he tried to coddle me as he spoke, but I took a step back away from him.
