“That was amazing,” Tucker finally mumbled again as he leaned up on his side and dipped his head to kiss my shoulder. I glanced over at him before turning completely on my side so that we were face to face.

“It was, but we forgot something pretty important,” I mentioned.

“What?” Concern caused his eyebrows to come together as his amber gaze locked onto mine.

“I’m not on birth control right now,” I reminded him. I had to go off because the one I’d been on previously began to make me feel sick when I took it. “We didn’t use anything,” I added when he just watched me without saying a word.

“Okay,” he managed to get out before reaching over and taking my hand. “While I would love time to adjust to being in the house without kids, it wouldn’t be the end of the world if something happened.”

I smiled at him and then leaned forward to kiss his lips. He reciprocated and ended by tugging on my bottom lip with his teeth. “How is it possible that I just thought I was dying of exhaustion not two minutes ago, but one taste of your sweet lips, and I’m already hard again?”

“If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you just want to practice making babies with me.”

“Oh, Mina! That just proves how well you do know me.”

Epilogue

Two Years Later

“Are you sure everything is set to go for Saturday?” I heard my husband ask. Tucker had turned the sitting room, downstairs, into an office slash library for me to work in while his office was upstairs at the opposite end of the hall from our bedroom. I wasn’t sure who he was speaking to in there, but when I asked him to come with me on Saturday, he had turned me down with the excuse that he had something work related to go to. I didn’t mean to eavesdrop on his conversation, but I’d come to his office to try to convince him that what I had planned was far more important than working on a Saturday.

It was. I planned to tell him, in spectacular fashion, that he was going to be a father. We hadn’t been trying, but we also hadn’t been careful either, so I didn’t know if he was even aware of the possibility or how he would react to the news. My mind wondered back to the day he showed me this house whenever I tried to imagine how he would react to my pregnancy. He had painted a beautifully vivid picture for me of what life would be like for us, and that life had included children.

So, when he blew me off for Saturday, I decided to revisit a little bit of our history and went into his closet looking for one of his button-down shirts. The purple one I currently had on to be specific. This time I had silver, four-inch heels on that sparkled in the light as I moved down the hall toward his office. I thought about adding one of his ties to the mix too. Maybe we could use it in our lovemaking as I convinced him that he was free on Saturday after all. Instead, I found myself standing in the hallway wearing only Tucker’s shirt and my heels with my ear pressed to the door.
