Author’s note
Part One: Fair warning: This is not an insta-love story. It’s not even an easy relationship story to start. It is a slow burn, arranged marriage, enemies to lovers romance complete with all the angst you think might be present in those scenarios. It also doesn’t start at the middle and give you flashbacks of past events, because honestly, I hate that. This story starts at the ugly beginning for this couple (from her point of view). If none of that is your thing – then this book most likely isn’t for you! Then again, maybe you just didn’t know it was your thing!
FINAL WARNING: For some readers, this book will have (sort of) almost cheating that might be a trigger. There is no cheating once the characters decide to REALLY be together, so take that for what it’s worth.
PS – I HATE giving these warnings. I’m old, so never got content warnings on books in my life until this past decade. I’d rather be surprised, even if it leaves me angry with the pages, but here we are.
Part Two: As most of my readers know, I am a plotter when it comes to writing. I have notes, use outlines, and it helps keep me on track. There are some occasions when things happen differently though. I had a story plotted out. It was When the Last Petal Falls which was supposed to be the first book in the Robeson Family Novels. That book had a solid outline, was partially written years ago, and then there were books two and three that had a synopsis written for each.
The problem was, when I worked on finishing up When the Last Petal Falls, about Mina’s big sister Bea, Mina started talking and wouldn’t shut up. You know how the youngest children can be – always demanding attention! 😉 So, I started typing, trying to get it all out. Nine days later, I had a complete rough draft of this novel. It happens like that sometimes. So, you get Mina’s book first. If Bea were the jealous type, I’m sure she’d be angry. Since she’s not, her story will be next, followed by their brother Flynn. Each novel has a different, wacky take on unconventional marriage and how two people get to that place where they walk down the aisle unexpectedly. They’re meant to be different, and while each has a happily ever after ending, all the couples have to go through a bit to get there. That’s the part I love most about romance. It doesn’t always have to be pretty, because sometimes the bumpy journey is why it all turns out right in the end!
Each book in this series can be read on its own, and there won’t be any spoilers for the others that you couldn’t get from reading the general book description for each. If you find one doesn’t suit your taste (because of potential triggers), then it’s perfectly fine to skip to another. Hopefully, you enjoy the trip the Robeson Clan takes you on. I know I enjoyed the unexpected hijacking of my manuscript when Mina just would not stop pestering me. I love plotting books, but it is a wild and crazy ride when I don’t even get the chance to do that because a character comes across so strongly.
