“You don’t have to be completely on your territory. Do you know that club Blue Smoke? It’s right at the edge of my... your territory.”
I realized he was talking about the territory that had once been the Ezzatis’ and was now mine. “Yeah, I know of it. Why?”
“Because the parking lot belongs to no one at the moment since it’s in a sort of a buffer zone, and the club itself is in your territory.”
“I still don’t understand.”
“Since it’s at the very edge of your territory, the Desaltis’ spies will be able to get close and make sure that your men aren’t around. When they see you’re alone, they’ll call Romeo, and he’ll want to come immediately. That club is closer to his home than yours.”
“Or he’ll just send his assassins after me and kill me.”
“I know it’s risky, but I don’t think he’ll want to miss the chance to get you himself. And if he sends someone else, we’ll know and you’ll get away from there.”
I narrowed my eyes at him. “Risky? More like suicide.”
“At least you’d know where and when to expect them. If you keep running and hiding, you’re always going to have to worry about them popping up somewhere.”
Maybe he had a point, but I wasn’t sure exactly what he wanted me to do. “Okay, so let’s say I go to that club, and the assassins don’t come for me. Romeo’s spies call him and tell him I’m there and that I’m alone. He shows up because he wants to kill me himself and he knows my men aren’t close enough to come help me, so he brings a bunch of his men too. What exactly am I supposed to do? Wave at him and wait for him to kill me? If you think he won’t shoot up a club full of people to get to me, you’re wrong.”
“That club is surrounded by buildings that aren’t very tall. When Romeo arrives, I can take him out from one of the rooftops. You’d have to be at that club until I notify you that they’re there... either him or his men, and all you have to do is get out through the back exit and run from there into a nearby building or a car. There are multiple alleys in that area. You can disappear in any of them. I’ll take care of anyone who might try to come after you, and I’m sure you can handle an attacker or two on your own if need be.”
“What if he decides to use the back door or to surround the club?” I raised an eyebrow at him.
