"Cooper, this is ridiculous. It's going to be a ton of work. You don't even know what we need yet," she said, throwing her hands up in the air.
He smiled. "It doesn't matter what you need. I will get it done, in a timely manner, and then maybe you can actually look at me without wanting to scream or cry or punch me in the nose."
Her anger melted away slightly, like an iceberg that was starting to sink into the ocean and break apart. "Thank you. I don't know what to say."
"Just say that you'll keep an open mind and let me show you how much I've changed."
She cocked her head to the side, squinting her eyes. "Are you doing this because you have a crush on my sister?"
He chuckled. "No. I would be doing this whether I had met Kate or not. Although, I hope by the end of this, you might let me take her out on a date."
Mia rolled her eyes. "We'll see. I'm not making any promises.”
"Fair enough. So, why don't you show me what you guys are thinking."
Kate stood out in the middle of the backyard, looking in every direction, trying her best to figure out the right plan for the wedding. She had planned many receptions and parties, but a wedding was a whole different animal.
She and Mia had spent a lot of time the day before sketching everything out. Cooper had taken that and drawn even more ideas until they had a magnificent plan. Still, she worried that they were missing something.
"You okay?” Cooper asked, a lazy smile on his face.
"Yeah. Just wanna make sure we've covered everything."
He laughed. "Trust me, there's not much else we can fit back here if you keep adding projects.”
"So, what are you working on now?"
"I figured the dance floor would be the easiest thing to do first. I've already got the frame, so it's just a matter of getting everything put together. I'm going to put a stain and seal on it so that it lasts a good long while. It will have some hinges that will make it easier for us to get it out-of-the-way when there's not an event going on back here."
"Good. And the gazebo?"
"I'm going to start on that in a couple of days. We should have everything done in plenty of time for your guests to come check it out."
Kate and Mia had decided not to tell Cooper about the big secret. He knew there was a wedding taking place, but he had no idea it was for a celebrity. The less people that knew, the better. They didn't want word to get out and lose the opportunity and the money that was going to come from it.
"Good. Well, I'll leave you to it."
She turned and started walking toward the house. "Hey, Kate?"
