  16. Don't miss out!

“That was her personal assistant. She said Lana stayed here as a little girl with her family. Of course, I have no clue who they were since that’s her stage name. Anyway, she remembered Momma and was sad to learn she’d passed away. She really wants the food we made for her back then, and she loved the location since she wants to keep her wedding out of the press. What better way to do that than come way out to north Georgia and into the woods?”

“This is literally the coolest thing that’s ever happened! I mean, it’s freaking Lana Blaze! I can’t wait to tell my friends…” Evie said, pulling out her phone.

“No! Evie, you can’t do that. At least, not until after Lana posts about it after the wedding. She’s trying to keep this a secret, remember? You have to promise me,” Mia said, putting her hand over Evie’s phone.

Evie sighed. “Okay. Sorry. I promise, I won’t post a thing. But, I must get a picture with her!”

“Ev, you know we won’t be here in July,” Kate said.

“I can’t do this. There’s no way,” Mia groaned before falling onto the sofa face first. Her nose and lips pressed into the fabric.

“Why?” Kate asked.

“Because not only have I never done a wedding, there will be a good hundred people here, and it has to be done secretly. I can’t handle all of these moving parts. If I get this wrong, I could destroy the business Momma built. It’s just not worth the risk.”

“Mom…” Evie prodded.

“I’ll help you,” Kate said. Mia pushed herself up to a seated position and looked at her brand new sister.

“What?”

“I’ll help you make this happen.”

“But how?”

“We can start planning now, and maybe I can come back in July. If not, we can video chat…”

“Or we can just stay for the summer…” Evie said, smiling.

“Ev, we can’t do that. I have work back home. And you probably have summer school.”

“Come on, Mom. You don’t have work like this. It’s Lana Blaze! And I’ll do classes online. They already said I could.”

Mia stood up and walked to the desk, picking up a notepad where she had written some things while she was on the phone. “Look,” she said, handing it to Kate.

“What’s this?”

“That’s the amount they’re offering if we do this wedding, plus a twenty percent bonus if we can pull this off without the press finding out.”

Kate’s eyes widened. “Seriously? They’re willing to pay this? I’m obviously in the wrong business. Who has this kind of money?”
