  103. THREE YEARS LATER

River came downstairs not long after, and I put dinner on the table. As we all sat down, I knew this was what it could be like every night in a perfect world.

But the world was not perfect.

So once everyone had eaten—the conversation was companionable but mostly about hockey, Huey and the news—I brought up a harder subject. “So, how does this work?”

Rigby shrugged. “Just like this? Though eventually, it stands to reason, there’d be more orgies.”

River slapped him in the back of the head, while Dev grunted, “Fucking hell, Engman.”

“What?” He pouted. “I don’t mind sharing if you don’t.”

I wasn’t sure if I should laugh or be horrified. River just shook his head. “I think that would be up to Nova, don’t you?”

I was picturing it then, that scenario that I’d purposefully not let myself imagine. All three of their huge bodies surrounding me, touching me, making me feel good as I made them feel good. The fantasy was one that made me clench my thighs together, but my vagina was a simple creature who didn’t think things through. Like, would I actually be enough to satisfy all three men, who were in their prime and so fucking handsome, or was I setting myself up for heartache when they eventually cheated on me?

“This is exclusive, right?”

Devan frowned. “Of course. I can’t speak for those two, but I want something stable with someone I can trust.”

“But there's only one of me and three of you…” Damn, this was awkward.

“We’re men, not baboons. We don’t need to have sex every day. I’m happy coming home and holding you in my arms. Intimacy is more than just shoving your dick inside someone.” Devan raised a single eyebrow. “Though I’m not going to lie, the sex has been mindblowing.” The look in his eyes told me he was remembering last night—how I’d screamed his name with my knees beside my ears and Devan’s cock filling me up in ways I’d never even imagined before now.

“What if one of you gets traded?” I asked River and Rigby, because that was the truth. Hockey wasn’t a game where you played on one team for a long time. That was an anomaly, not the norm.

“We both have another year on our contracts, and then I guess we cross that bridge when we come to it. Hopefully we re-sign with the IceCaps, but if we get traded, then we’ll make it work,” Rigby said softly, but that was easy for him to say. “Don’t borrow future trouble, Fireball. Nothing is guaranteed in life, and we shouldn’t miss out on today’s happiness on the off chance the future isn’t what we predicted.”
