  56. ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Claire Stetzer, my editor, for guiding me and helping me shape Salt and Sugar into the book that it is today. I’m so grateful for everything. Thank you to Bess Braswell and everyone at Inkyard Press and HarperCollins for believing in my story and making my dream come true. Many thanks to Gigi Lau, the designer behind the cover art, and Andressa Meissner, the illustrator. Thank you for creating such a magical cover. I can’t stop staring at it!

I’m sorry if I forgot someone, but just know that I’m so thankful. This felt like such an impossible dream when I was a kid... I still can’t believe I get to write about characters who were inspired by my childhood, navigating life and dreaming in the cities of my heart. Um cheiro, Olinda and Recife.

And last but not least, I’d like to thank you for reading Salt and Sugar. This has been such an incredible journey and I’m so grateful that I got a chance to share this Brazilian story with you.
