“Stop thinking about me!”

His jaw clenched.

“All I want is a nice guy who respects me and wants to have a happy life with me.”

“You want more than that. You want this.” He lowered his mouth to hers, wrapping one arm around her tight little body, pushing his other hand into her hair. She was right there with him, feverishly devouring his mouth. Oh yeah, baby girl, neither of us can deny this.

When their lips parted, she wobbled, and he held her tighter. “You can’t do that,” she said breathily. “It screws with my head.”

“That’s what you want, baby girl. You want what Dr. Fuckface can’t give you.”

She narrowed her eyes. “Don’t call him that. He’s a great guy.”

“He is, but it’s true. He doesn’t make you wet like I do, or make your knees weak, does he?”

“No, okay?” Her cheeks flushed. “I told you. I felt nothing, and it’s your fault. Did the woman the other night make you feel like you do when you kiss me?”

“I didn’t let that woman put her lips on me.”

“Yeah, right. I can’t do this with you.” She sounded on the verge of tears, and that killed him. “I don’t want to be a notch on your belt, and you don’t answer to anyone.”

He tightened his hold on her. “I’ve never answered to anyone, but I answered to you,” he growled. “I told you I didn’t fuck her.”

“But you followed it up by drawing a line in the sand, telling me you don’t answer to anyone.”

He lifted her up and set her on the pool table, wedging himself between her legs, and grabbed her chin, angling her face up so she had to look into his eyes. “Listen carefully, because I don’t have time for grammar games. If I don’t touch you soon, I’m going to lose my fucking mind. I said I didn’t fuck her, and then I explained that I don’t answer to anyone but I was answering to you.”

“Oh,” came out as a stunned whisper.

He pushed his hands up her outer thighs, brushing his thumbs over her damp panties, and she inhaled a sharp breath, desire brimming in her eyes. His cock jerked with need. “I’ve got nothing to offer you, baby girl, but the shirt on my back. But I want you like I’ve never wanted anything in my life, and if you’re in my bed, there won’t be anyone else.”

“But you’re leaving.”

“I was leaving to escape this.” He pushed a thumb over her clit, working it in slow circles through her panties, and her breath rushed out. “Plans can change.”

“They can?” she panted out, eyes wide.
