- Meet Melissa
Tracey glanced out the window and saw him pacing by his truck with his phone pressed to his ear. “I don’t know what’s going on with us.” She told Izzy about the last few days. “But there was a moment this morning, and again tonight, when I swear he was either going to kiss me or tell me he wanted to.”
“Don’t kid yourself. That’s not a man who hesitates or asks permission to kiss a woman. He’s the kind of guy who bends you over the pool table and takes what he wants.”
Tracey wrinkled her nose, not wanting to think about what he does with other women. “I thought so, too, but I’m telling you, I felt something big. Something different. Like that embrace you saw out there. What the heck was that? And to just act like he didn’t do it afterward? I swear it’s like he opens up a tiny bit, and then he snaps closed again. I want to dig my fingers into that crack and pry him open.”
“You and every other able-bodied woman,” Izzy teased. “Many of whom are already prying open his zipper.”
“Don’t remind me.” Tracey felt a little nauseated at that. “I know it’s nuts, but I want to get inside him and see what makes him tick.”
“Oh, Trace. I know he looks at you like he wants to eat you for dessert, but you really like him, don’t you?”
“He got to me.” Tracey shrugged. “But he confuses me. I mean, right before I came inside we argued because he said he was staying out there tonight after telling me I didn’t need anyone standing guard. You know what he said? That he wasn’t doing it for me. What does that even mean?”
“He said that?”
“Yes!”
Izzy flopped back against the couch cushions and kicked her feet up on the coffee table, crossing her ankles. “I think the boy’s got a crush on my girl.”
Tracey groaned and fell back beside her. “A crush? What does that mean in the biker world?”
“Hell if I know. That you might get bent over a bed instead of a pool table?”
They both laughed.
Tracey rested her head on Izzy’s shoulder. “What am I gonna do?”
“You could go with friends with benefits, like me and Jared.” Jared Stone, Dixie’s husband’s hot, arrogant younger brother who never sat still for more than five minutes, was a world-renowned chef and restaurateur. He and Izzy had been hooking up for as long as Tracey had known them.
“No offense, Iz, but I don’t think I’m wired for that.”
“I’m not sure I am anymore, either. Everyone is so happy and in love, I’m starting to want more, too.”
