On one hand, being in a car with him was probably a terrible idea. On the other, I had checked the pantry earlier and the snack situation in there was a fucking nightmare. If I was going to spend hours upon hours here for the show, I was going to need better stuff.

“I don’t go food shopping voluntarily,” I informed him and he raised an eyebrow. “I have to take my grandmother once a week and that is as much as I can deal with.”

“Then I guess you have to eat whatever I buy for you.” He thought he was so fucking smug.

“Oh my God, fine, I’ll come.” I popped up. “But only because the dry pellets you seem to enjoy just don’t do it for me.”

“You could just tell me what you like.”

“Please,” I scoffed. “You can’t be trusted. I know what you eat. You’re practically a two-legged alpaca.” He made a choking sound, which when I looked up I realized was a laugh.

“My snacks are fine.”

I waved a hand toward the pantry, before walking over and opening it. I pulled out the supposed food that Theo had purchased. “This looks like bird food, and everything is brown.”

“Those are high-protein options, you could eat those crackers with some of the hummus in the fridge.” He told me haughtily.

“Not on your life.” I cringed before returning his cardboard bites to the pantry. “I’m going with you and getting some Cheez-Its and Oreos, the kind of food nature intended us to stress-eat with.”

He kept his face very serious as he shook his head in disgust, but he was smiling with his eyes.

“Fine, but I’m driving,” he informed me, grabbing his wallet then sticking his sunglasses on the collar of his shirt, which shouldn’t be nearly as hot as it was. I really had to stop getting turned on by everything he did.

It wasn’t that I’d never noticed the almost inhuman hotness that was Theo Ganas on a regular basis when I worked for him. There was no ignoring a body like that, but so far it had been hotness like Henry Cavill was hot. Something any human could appreciate, but no normal person could actually possess. When the only two sides I ever saw of him were Mr. Ex-Olympian and real estate mogul in five-thousand-dollar suits I had no problem compartmentalizing. I could keep my professional distance while dealing with perfectly groomed millionaire Theo. This smiling, leather flip-flop and faded jeans wearing man was one I could definitely fuck with.

“You all right there?” he asked as he opened the passenger door to his rental Tesla SUV for me.
