- Chapter One
“Yeah, that’s where we were.” He pressed a kiss to my head and settled us again, so I was tucked under his chin. Who would’ve thought Theo Ganas was a cuddler. “I came back for high school. So my Spanish is decent. She always gave me shit about it and in the DR I was always ‘el gringo.’” He laughed but there was very little humor in it and I tightened my hands over his arms. “I guess I got self-conscious about it and now I feel like I’ve gone too long without using it.”
“I mean it’s not like I was looking to take points for pronunciation or anything,” I drawled. “I was too busy coming all over your face and all.” I felt his shoulders shake behind me, even as his hands brought me closer. “But what you did say sounded pretty good to me.”
“No me des ideas, Alba,” he whispered and that fluttery happy thing bloomed in my belly again.
“Seriously though, I like hearing you all growly and bossy in Spanish. It’s hot.”
He made a noncommittal groan and gathered me up again. “Go to sleep, before I give you something to do with that mouth.” I was kind of disappointed when he didn’t fulfill that very enticing promise, but then I felt a brush of lips against the back of my neck before a strong arm tucked me closer to his hard chest. A hushed “sweetheart” against my ear was the last thing I heard before I fell into the best sleep I’d had in years.

Theo
“You ran off on me,” I couldn’t help but grumble the next morning as I walked into the kitchen and found Alba fully dressed and sipping on some green juice from a straw. She had her laptop in front of her—I had begun to think about that thing as her security blanket. If she was at the table, she had it out, but right now Alba was reading something on her phone.
