“Shoulders for days,” Mitzy concurred, and despite how pissed I was I had to bite back a smile at the thirst these two refined Southern belles had for my former boss. Fine-ass fucker.

“There.” Mitzy pointed at the larger meeting room at the end of the hall. The rooms were all glass, so there was a clear view of him even before I went inside. I actually blinked my eyes shut for a moment, trying to delay seeing him.

I didn’t feel ready.

“Do you want us to go in with you?” Muffy asked, as I stood in front of the door staring at the back of his head. Was he wearing...a leather jacket?

What the fuck?

“I’m fine,” I assured the pair, who were standing behind me like Chanel No. 5–wearing sentinels. “I’ll check in with you once we’re done.”

“We’ll be waiting.”

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing, Theo?” I said the moment I walked in. My entire body was vibrating from seeing him again. It was just nerves, or rage—definitely rage.

“I’m here to get to know my co-host for our renovation show,” he said all casual and shit as he turned to me.

Had this asshole gotten hotter?

“With all this hard staring I might start to think you missed me, Alba Solange,” he said all fake nice before standing up to his full height. In my three-inch heels I was still half a foot shorter than him. I took two steps back because I would be damned if I was going to crane my neck to look up at that fuck face.

“Sorry, I was just taken aback by your demonic eyebrows. Guess you’re not getting to those waxing appointments now that you don’t have your Google Calendar bitch to make them for you.”

He frowned at my jab, which only made the little peaks at the center in his eyebrows that much more pronounced. A warm feeling of contentment surged through me knowing I’d put a wrinkle in his plan to mess with me today. “You forgot that I know all your little vanity secrets, Theo.”

My former boss’s one little flaw, the one thing he was vain about. He was adorably self-conscious about his eyebrows, and I was pissed enough at him in that moment to tease him about them.

“Is that a bit of a Southern drawl I detect, Alba Galathea?” he asked, not taking my bait.

“Oh, cut the bullshit, Theo. What the hell are you doing here? Are you trying to fuck with me because I didn’t run back to New York?” My temper started to get away from me the moment I started talking. “Are you so unable to hear the word no that you’d sabotage my fucking career because you didn’t get those last two weeks out of me?”
