- Chapter One
“Oooh, live music,” I told Theo as we walked by the bar next to the restaurant where I’d just had one of the best meals of my life. So far the day had been a sexy, relaxing fever dream and I couldn’t imagine a better way to end it than dancing. I’d never imagined I could ever take to being pampered, but I realized that what I hated was feeling like I was someone’s chore. Like someone doing something for me was an inconvenience. Theo loved spoiling me. He reveled in it, and I wasn’t going to lie, I was into it.
“I wouldn’t mind seeing you sway your hips in this.” He ran his hands over the red halter dress I had on, palms sliding over my sides and hips until they locked at my lower back.
“I could see what kind of moves you have, Mr. Ganas,” I teased before pushing up to kiss his jaw.
“Oh, I’ve got plenty of moves, Alba Serena.” He looked down at me with those smiling eyes, like just being with me made him insanely happy. He tucked a curl behind my ear and kissed me again. “If you’re not too tired.”
I rolled my eyes, because as hot as I found this protective side of him, he had asked me if I was too tired like a hundred times today. “Well, I slept almost fourteen hours straight yesterday and took two naps today. I haven’t been this rested since the womb.” His mouth twitched at that, followed by a soft swat on my ass.
“You’re a brat,” he said without any heat, that goofy smile that made my knees weak pulling up his lips.
“You like my brattiness,” I told him with confidence, and he leaned in to nip at my neck.
“I fucking love it,” he said, before he licked over the spot where his teeth had been, and I was ready for another go at his dick. But he pulled me into the bar instead.
It was more like a piano bar with a small dance floor than a New York City bar. Theo and I found a little table to the side of the stage and he left to go get us a drink. The performer, a Latina with an amazing voice, was belting out “La Llorona,” the old ranchera by Chavela Vargas. I was swaying to the music when an older man, who had to be in his seventies, approached the table.
“Would you like to dance, miss?” His accent was unmistakably Dominican, which was a surprise because though there were a lot of Spanish speakers here, they were not usually from the Caribbean. Right then Theo made it back to the table with two glasses of champagne in hand.
