Instead I distracted myself by observing Theo Ganas move like I never had been able to when I worked for him. He didn’t shave as often here in Dallas and his hair was longer than I’d ever seen it. It was lighter from the intense sun here too. Not quite blond, but a very light brown. Like dark caramel. He was long and rangy, a body honed to perfection. And though I’d appreciated it over the years, now I knew what it felt like pressed to mine. The power in it. The way it could make mine hum with pleasure.
I wanted him again, already ached for it. Right then he turned to look at me, an eyebrow raised in question at whatever he saw on my face. I just shook my head, and he offered me a lopsided smile that made my heart clench.
“See something you like?” he asked, with that new Texas swagger of his.
“Not a thing,” I lied, struggling to hide the yearning in my voice. He didn’t look like he believed me. I wouldn’t have either with the way I was glomming up his chest. Despite only ever letting myself catch a glimpse at a time, three years’ worth of glimpses made for an extremely in-depth knowledge of that fastidiously smooth chest. The sculpted pecs and dark brown nipples. I wished now that I’d touched more when I had the chance.
I would next time.
“Since you’re not interested in any of this, I might as well get comfortable.” His voice made me drag my eyes from the divot between his pecs and down to where his hands where pulling off his sweats. I let out a slow breath when I realized he had briefs on. Black, very tight briefs. “Is that disappointment I see?”
“You’re certainly full of yourself,” I grumbled, making him laugh. Still smiling he lifted the covers and slid in next to me. He made a contented sound as he brought me to him. His strong arms easily gathering me to his side.
“How do you feel?” He sounded casual enough, but I could hear real concern in his voice. And usually, I was pretty easygoing about these things. Sex was sex. Some times better than others and always casual. But now I felt the echo of where his hands and mouth had been like they were tiny beating hearts under my skin.
“I’m fine. I’m great. Just what I needed after a long day,” I said. Easy, breezy. No feelings being felt here. Absolutely no overthinking happening inside this skull. But Theo already had my number, if that “yeah right” sound he made was anything to go by. He flipped us over until we were spooned together, him the big spoon to my little spoon, and then reached over my head to turn the light off.
