- Chapter One
“Alone at last,” my roommate declared a little too happily once we’d dispatched our guests. He’d been acting funny all afternoon. I’d expected him to give me the cold shoulder for breaking pretty much all his cardinal rules of human behavior. Not only had I left him alone to take care of my friends, I’d been two hours late.
I’d walked in fully prepared to be iced out or reprimanded, but he’d been nothing but sweetness. Hell, he’d been more than sweet, he’d been flirty—poured me a glass of rosé and served me a plate of food. Dallas Theo was a fucking trip and the more of this side of him that I saw, the more my resistance weakened. Since that night we’d watched TV something had been crackling between us that was close to combusting with every touch, with every look we exchanged. Was it smart? Fuck no. But I didn’t know how to stop myself. I didn’t think I wanted to. A distraction like Theo Ganas could be utterly disastrous to my plans. Not only were we working together on the show, no matter how much I denied it, I knew I could fall hard and fast for him. And love was just not part of my plan.
But one thing about me: once I decided to be reckless, I was going to be fucking reckless. And right now, my blood was boiling to do something I’d one hundred percent regret tomorrow. I should’ve been tired, given that I’d been working since six in the morning, but Theo had me keyed up and wired. He was tucked into one of the corners of the deep end of the pool and I was on a fancy float slowly gliding over the water, neither of us saying a word, but I could feel his eyes burning me.
“You’re quiet tonight, Mr. Ganas.” I pushed my sunglasses up and glanced at him while I took a sip of my drink.
“Just taking in the view, Miss Duarte.” That sexy-ass voice of his set off a throbbing between my legs. Since we’d gotten back in the pool a few minutes ago we’d been playing this game where he’d let his eyes roam over me and they’d snag right when he got to my boobs. Then he’d lick his bottom lip and keep going all the way to my toes, but he’d made no attempt to get closer. Every time he did it, lust swirled around inside me until my skin felt like it was on fire.
