“What the fuck is happening to my life?” I asked no one as I sat in my bedroom still digesting the events of the morning. In the end the presentation had gone over well, or over well with everyone except Chase, who was still a hater. I’d planned to hunt down my roommate and ask a few pointed questions about his newfound social media presence. But the moment I’d ended my presentation, he’d run out of that conference room like a bat out of hell.
He also hadn’t been home when I got back. That, of course, led to some Instagram sleuthing, which an hour later had yielded results I was still digesting. Theodoro Ganas was now on Instagram. It was for all intents and purposes a creeper account since his handle was Theo.Ganas.2576, but he apparently had created one. There were no profile pictures, no posts, to be seen, and he was following exactly two people: me and his sister, Zoe.
It was so fucking cute I honestly couldn’t cope, but more concerning was the fact the little devil on my shoulder, who looked and sounded a hell of a lot like Julia, kept telling me everything I’d learned today meant something. Something I absolutely could not touch with a ten-foot pole until this show was done. If one thing was clear, it was that Chase was just itching to find an excuse to kick me off the set.
Still, what Theo had done for me today, no one had ever done. Gratitude and lust were a very precarious cocktail, but I should at least say thank you. Maybe I should just DM to say thank you...and ask if he’s making food. You CAN text him, the killjoy in my head reminded me.
Holding my breath, I tapped on the screen and typed his handle into the search bar. His icon was an Olympic pool, and yes, the fact that his one and only follower was his sister would never not be the cutest fucking thing on earth.
“Fuck it,” I muttered as I followed him back from my Bookish Boudoir account, then I did it.
Bookish Boudoir: Mr. Ganas... Imagine seeing you here.
He saw my message right away and a moment later three dots floated on my screen for a few stomach churning seconds.
Theo.Ganas.2576: Hey. *hand wave emoji* Sorry it took me so long to respond. I was asking Zoe how to add one of those little faces.
I pressed my lips together. God, he was killing me.
Bookish Boudoir: At least you have a good social media consultant. Your sister is a little badass.
Theo.Ganas.2576: She is.
He added a smiley face emoji and I clutched my chest like a fucking sap.
Bookish Boudoir: Thank you for today.
Theo.Ganas.2576: You don’t have to thank me.
