  50. Epilogue

“Right on. Have fun, man.” Slapping him on the back, I walk through the front door, heading up the stairs toward my room. The house is practically silent right now, but that isn’t unusual for a Tuesday afternoon. A lot of the guys are still in class.

Once in my room, I drop my backpack next to my desk, kicking off my shoes. My mind is still reeling over this trip I’m taking with Stone. If this was some movie or romance novel, an accidental hook-up would be in my foreseeable future.

If only I was that lucky.

“I’m getting another beer. Want one?” My gaze flits over to Jeremy, one of the newer frat brothers. He’s a kiss-ass, but I think it comes from a good place. He’s still getting to know everyone and wants to make a good impression.

“Sure. Thanks, Jer.”

The usual Friday night party is in full swing, but I’m sitting on the back porch, trying to unwind. I’ve had a crazy week at school; an intense research project was due in my philosophy class, and it’s not my favorite class, so I dragged my feet a bit with getting it done.

Footsteps sound on the wooden deck beside me. Turning my head to the right, I’m met with an ice-cold bottle of IPA. “Thanks, bro,” I say to Jeremy as I take the drink.

“No problem. Can I get you anything else?”

“Nah, man. I’m good. Enjoy your night.” As soon as he walks away, my buddy, Weston takes his place. His piercing blue eyes are bloodshot; he’s either already three sheets to the wind or he’s stoned. You never know with him.

“Cash, my man!” His dimples peek through as he smiles, taking a seat in the chair across from me. “How the fuck are ya, dude?”

“’Sup, West. Did you just get here?” I bring the bottle up to my lips, tipping it back to take a swig.

“I sure did. Came from a party at the sorority.”

“Of course, you did.” I chuckle, which makes him laugh. I’m a pretty flirty guy, and have no trouble finding someone to keep my bed warm. But Weston… he takes the cake. Playboy doesn’t even begin to cover it. He had a steady girlfriend most of last year, but they broke up, and he’s had fun letting his horny flag fly since.

“A couple chicks came with me from there. They’re around here somewhere.”

“Any of the other guys here, do you know?” All of our hometown buddies are paired up, except me and Weston. They don’t party as much as they used to, which I guess is pretty normal when you get into a serious relationship. Plus, if I didn’t live in this house, I probably wouldn’t party nearly as much as I do either.
