“Stays at submissive wine night,” Sam finished. “I know the rules. I won’t tell her you’re the one who said it.”
“Like she’d believe it was anyone else,” Rebecca said drily.
Sam sighed. “Fine, I won’t tell her.”
“Jack’s a good guy,” Amanda put in. “But if you’re not comfortable with him, you should take him off the list.”
“I’m not sure if I am or not.” Olivia waved away the question of Jack. “I just know the ones I am comfortable with are out of the question.”
“Why?”
Olivia looked at Rebecca. “What do you mean, why?”
Rebecca leaned forward. “The question isn’t whether or not they’re available to you, but whether or not you’d be comfortable with them, right?”
“Right,” Olivia agreed slowly.
“Then, that’s the criteria you need to use to evaluate the list.” Rebecca shrugged. “The rest is up to Cade, isn’t it?”
“I guess so. But you’re my friend.” She looked at Amanda. “Both of you. I wouldn’t want you to think…well…”
“She doesn’t want you to think she’s lusting after your man,” Sadie put in.
Olivia nodded when both Rebecca and Amanda turned to her. “What she said. I feel weird enough as it is.”
Amanda frowned. “Why do you feel weird?”
Olivia shrugged, uncomfortable. “I always feel weird. CNC tends to freak people out.”
“Hang on.” Sam leaned forward. “I can’t speak for anyone else, but I’m not freaked out.”
Sadie raised her hand. “Me neither.”
“I don’t want to play with rape fantasies, but it doesn’t bother me that you do,” Amanda said, and Rebecca nodded.
“Really?” Olivia fiddled with the hem of her T-shirt. “You don’t think I’m weird?”
“Hella weird,” Sadie said, and Olivia blinked. “But, honey, we all are.”
“I’m a male submissive,” Sam pointed out. “You think I don’t get shit about that from the toxic masculinity set?”
“I spent last weekend in a dog cage in my basement,” Amanda put in. “I peed outside and ate out of a bowl.”
“I dress up like a schoolgirl,” Sadie said.
“I call my boyfriend ‘Daddy’,” Rebecca continued, and shrugged. “You think that’s not weird, try saying it in Ikea.”
Sadie’s jaw dropped. “You didn’t.”
Rebecca nodded. “When we went to look at bookshelves for the office. He didn’t like the ones I wanted, and I said “but, Daaaaaddeeeeee” and a woman the next aisle over tripped over a couch.”
Sadie was laughing so hard she had to put her wine down.
“See?” Amanda spread her hands. “None of us qualify for ‘normal’.”
“You wouldn’t be upset if I left James on the list?” she asked. “Or Nick?”
