  30. About the Author

Olivia dumped flour into a bowl and fought back a snicker. “I told you, it was fine.”

Sadie sighed so loud it echoed in the kitchen. “Oh my God, you’re the worst.”

“Sorry,” Olivia said with a laugh. “I want to tell you all about it, I swear. But I’m in the middle of making pancakes.”

“So? Multi-task, bitch.”

Olivia laughed so hard she had to put down the baking soda for fear of spilling it all over the floor. “You’re terrible.”

“This is well established,” Sadie said dismissively. “What is not well established is exactly how terrible Cade is. So dish.”

“He’s awful,” Olivia said, pouring the butter and the curdled milk into the bowl. “Wretched. Rotten to the core.”

“That good, huh?”

“So good,” Olivia said with a sigh, and began to whisk. “Sadie, it was just so…so…”

“Wow,” Sadie said when Olivia trailed off. “Left you speechless, huh? This is the point where normally I’d ask for the play-by-play, but I’m not sure I want to know.”

Olivia paused in her whisking to frown at the phone. “Does consensual non-consent bother you?”

“Theoretically, no. But it’s not one of my kinks, and honestly, I’m not sure if I want the nitty gritty.”

“Then why are you asking?”

“Because you’re my friend and this is a big deal for you, and I want you to know that I support you.”

Olivia resumed whisking with a smile. “That’s so sweet.”

“Yeah, I’m a spoonful of sugar,” Sadie said drily. “Okay, let’s get to the important thing. What does Cade look like naked?”

Olivia bit back a snicker and set her whisk in the sink. “I thought you didn’t want the nitty gritty?”

“That’s just the CNC stuff. For the record, I always want the hot-naked-man stuff.”

Olivia pulled a clean dish towel out of the drawer next to the stove and laid it over her bowl, then turned to set it at the back of the counter next to the coffee pot. The pot was empty—more evidence that Cade hadn’t eaten yet—but she’d make a fresh one, and the heat it gave off would help the pancake batter proof. “You’ve seen Cade naked before, haven’t you?”

“I haven’t, actually. He doesn’t strip down in the dungeon a lot. Believe me, I’d have noticed if he had.”

“I guess that’s true,” Olivia mused, and carried the coffee pot to the sink.

“So? How hot is he?”

Olivia left the pot filling in the sink and pulled out the bag of coffee grounds as she thought about Cade naked. Muscled torso, tree trunk legs, and in between…

“Pretty hot,” Olivia said, and carefully measured out grounds. “He’s got a lot of muscles from working construction.”

“I can see that,” Sadie replied, clearly exasperated. “What about the muscle I can’t see?”
