“I’m happy to tell you if you want to know,” he said, and dropped a kiss on her forehead. “In the meantime, let’s go get a bath.”
A bath sounded heavenly. He got up, and she started to scoot to the end of the sofa, intending to follow. But he bent and scooped her up, blankets and all, and carried her to the stairs.
“You know,” she said, twining her arms around his neck. “I could really get used to this kind of Saturday.”
“Me, too, fofa.” He started up. “Me, too.”

By that evening, Olivia was feeling like herself again. They’d spent the day lazing around, watching movies and playing board games, and Cade had only left her side to bring her more food, or a thicker blanket, or his beloved University of Oklahoma sweatshirt, marvelously soft from a thousand washings. The strangely hollow feeling that always plagued her post-scene had almost completely disappeared.
Apart from a few lingering worries, it was a perfect day.
“Why are we fast-forwarding though half of this movie?” Cade asked as Julie & Julia zoomed past on the screen.
“Because I only like the Julia parts,” she told him.
“Why didn’t you pick a movie you like all of?”
“Because this one is my comfort watch.”
“You mean, half of it is your comfort watch.”
“Yeah.” She leaned her head against his shoulder and watched him frown at the screen. She’d been debating with herself all day, and though part of her didn’t want to know, she knew it would take up too much real estate in her brain if she didn’t. “Jack was Big, wasn’t he?”
He hit pause on the remote and looked down at her. “Do you want to know?”
“Yes. And no.”
He turned so they could see each other clearly. “Can you explain that?”
She struggled to put her feelings into words. “I’d like to keep it as part of the scene, you know? Preserve the mystery. But I’m already pretty sure who all of them were, except Cockney, and I’m starting to get anxious about it. And not good anxious.”
He stroked his knuckles across her cheek. “Yes, Jack was Big.”
She nodded. “And Tex?”
“That was Nick.”
“I thought so, but…”
“The accent?”
“Yes! It was so over the top, I just couldn’t picture grumpy Nick getting so into it.”
Cade laughed. “I think he enjoyed the departure from his usual Big Daddy persona.”
“And how,” she muttered, rubbing her sore backside, and smiled when he laughed again. “And Cockney?”
“That was James.”
She stared at him in horror. “I kicked James in the balls?”
“Baby, you drilled him. He had to crawl into the bathroom to puke.”
“Oh, my God.” She buried her face in her hands, horrified. “I broke James. He didn’t even get to participate in the scene!”
