Zack glanced at his lap. Despite what John had said, he might as well be naked. His dick was as clear through his pants as if it had been inked on, and the wet spot was nothing shy of obscene. With trembling fingers, Zack snapped a photo of his hips and spread thighs. Part of him was getting off on this, even though he’d just come.

“What’s your number?” he asked. He held his breath, half expecting John to rethink this and refuse.

But John rattled one off, and the reality of what Zack was about to do hit him like an avalanche. This could end so badly for him, but he was in too deep now. He sent the picture and tried to stay calm.

“Sent.”

A second passed, and then John said, “I got it.”

Zack began to panic. This was a mistake, one he couldn’t begin to correct.

Before he could work himself into a frenzy, however, John let out a shuddering breath.

“God, you are hot.”

“Am I?” Zack asked, dazed.

“Like you don’t know. Christ, you look even better than I remembered. I’m going to kiss my tailor. This is the single sexiest picture anyone’s ever sent me.” He cleared his throat. “I just, fuck. Later tonight, I’m going to come while looking at this, and then I’m going to delete it so no other person on the planet can possibly enjoy it.”

“Do you mean that?”

John’s voice was soft and intimate, like a caress. “I do.”

Zack couldn’t have said what spurred him on—maybe it was hormones, or the strange but inebriating closeness he felt to John right now—but he made a snap decision.

“John, I want to see you again.” The words came tumbling out of his mouth. “In person. Will you meet up with me?”

He was greeted with absolute silence.

Then there was a click, and the dial tone buzzed in his ear.

Chapter 10

Zack buried his face in his hands. “I’ve ruined everything. I know I’ve said that before, but this time I mean it.”

Alexa patted his hair soothingly. “Maybe it’s for the best.”

Zack peeked through his fingers. Alexa was perched in her customary place on his desk. “How could this be for the best? I completely freaked John out, which means he’ll never call again, which in turn means I’ve lost my best client.”

“Every other time you guys talk, you think you’ve frightened him off,” Alexa pointed out. “He was probably just surprised. And if he wasn’t, is it really that much of a loss? You let this get way out of hand. I mean, you know the most important rule as well as I do.”

Zack nodded. “Never get involved with a client.”
