“I’m guessing that wasn’t the case.”
“Not even close. It was this swanky-looking tailor full of suits and rich people. You should have seen the guys who were in there. They were all lounging around in armchairs with newspapers glued to their faces. And every one of them was wearing a polo shirt. It was like a gender-swapped Stepford Wives. They were the kind of guys I would have beaten up in high school.”
“Man, I wish I could have seen that. Were your clothes waiting for you when you walked in?”
“Of course not,” Zack said. “That would have been easy and much less embarrassing. No, I had to be poked and prodded and have my inseam measured and all kinds of shit. Then I had to come back later to pick up the clothes after they’d been tailored to the exact shape of my body.”
Alexa whistled. “A bespoke sex outfit. It’s like you’re PSO royalty.”
“Yeah, well, I’ll tell you one thing, even with all the measuring, I didn’t expect them to get the fit so precise. I feel a little violated.” Zack rolled his shoulders, causing the vest to creak. “I wish I knew what John had planned for today. Obviously some kind of role-play, but who are we playing? Sexy pirates?”
“Well, at least you know one thing for sure.”
“What’s that?”
“John has money, or at least his family does. There’s no denying it after this. I mean, the lengthy phone calls, the VIP table at the club, and now a free sex outfit that he’ll never even see? Dude’s loaded.”
Zack hummed thoughtfully. “He does pay a lot of attention to his wardrobe during our scenes. I used to think he was trying too hard, but I guess for him, dropping designer names is normal. And I get to reap the benefits.” Zack held his arms out and favored Alexa with another smooth spin.
“You are so loving this.” Alexa smirked. She paused to take a drag and then said, “What have you been doing with all your extra commission money?”
“Nothing much, truthfully. I got some parts for Marilyn that she desperately needed. I might even be able to get her up and running soon. I bought Ziggy some new toys too.”
Alexa made a cooing noise. “You’re such a good daddy.”
“I try my best. Are you ready to go in?”
“Yup.” Alexa stubbed out her cigarette and disposed of it.
They started walking in, but didn’t get more than a few feet before Alexa said, “Have you checked the leaderboards recently?”
“No, I never do. Why?”
“Oh, no reason.” Alexa’s tone was suspiciously casual. They reached the stairs and started climbing. “There’s just been some upset in the top ten recently. I was knocked down a peg by this guy who nabbed the number one spot out of nowhere.”
“Really? Who was it?”
“You.”
