Chapters (19)
Given all the circumstances of when this book was written, edited, and published, there’s no way I would’ve gotten through it without having so many incredible and admirable fellow author-parents for empathy, venting, support, and encouragement. I feel so lucky for the lifeline of these group chats. And to all the authors whose texts and DMs help make this industry feel smaller in the best way, including but definitely not limited to Jenn Dugan, Lev Rosen, Cam Montgomery, Jennifer Iacopelli, Sona Charaipotra, Tess Sharpe, Jess Capelle, Sharon Morse, Becca Podos, Becky Albertalli, Swapna Krishna, Emily Henry, Phil Stamper, Meryl Wilsner, and, of course, Maggie—thank you. Publishing during a pandemic sucks, but you all make it suck a little less.
I’m so thankful to the authors I admire so deeply who lent their kind words to this book—Lev, JRo, Kelly, Rachael, Meryl, and Chelsea, you are all quite literally awesome and I appreciate your support (and your own work!) so much. And, of course, huge thanks to the bloggers, Bookstagrammers, booksellers, librarians, educators, and BookTokers who’ve shared my work with readers, especially Rachel Strolle, Farrah Penn, Laynie Rose, and Danika Ellis.
To whatever family and friends actually still read my books, thank you and I love you. To my family and friends who will never see this line, that’s okay—I love you, too. To Yoni, my parents, my in-laws, and my siblings who have done their best to give me the time and space needed to do this thing I love, I am forever appreciative and so incredibly lucky to have you.
But the biggest thank-you of all goes to my children: you may have done your best to stop me from working as often as possible, but you gave me the maternity leaves that allowed for this book to get written, so let’s call it even.
