It took all Trev’s self-control not to push her against the chapel wall and kiss her like the world was ending. They were probably used to PDA here, but if he started, he might not be able to stop, and it would not be ideal to do it for the first time as a married couple in a public bathroom. Doing that at Danica’s party had been wild enough.
“Can’t wait. All night long, I hope.”
Their eyes locked, and Trev swore his body temperature spiked to the point that he felt the heat everywhere. He inhaled slowly. Exhaled.
She smiled. “The stamina ball is in your court, sweetheart. Okay, we’re all set, tickets purchased. Let’s head over and get ready to admire the city from above.”
The wedding chapel was about half an hour from the High Roller attraction in south Las Vegas, so they called for another rideshare. This driver was quiet, respecting the mood, and he played a medley of soft, romantic songs. The car was clean and smelled of cinnamon, details Trev noted and stored away, because he wanted to recall every last trace of this perfect trip. He might never experience anything so wonderful again.
On impulse, he leaned over and kissed Leanne on the cheek. “Thanks for making this so incredible and memorable.”
“I’m having fun,” she said, waving off his gratitude, but she did lean over to return the kiss, her soft mouth lingering on his jaw.
The resultant thrill did things to him, feelings he probably shouldn’t focus on. Not yet anyway. There would be time for that tonight. Our wedding night.
Oh my God.
A short while later, he stepped into the pod behind Leanne. It was huge, much larger than it looked from the ground, and the view was breathtaking. They shared it with a few others, but they were quiet, admiring the slow, golden slide of the sun sinking in the sky. Since he’d grown up in the Midwest, he hadn’t realized sunset could be so glorious elsewhere. Out here in the desert, the colors were electrifying, making him feel like he’d never seen the sky before in his life. Or maybe it was the woman holding his hand, the last rays of sunlight gilding her hair like she was a flaming angel come to bless mere mortals with her grace.
“Take a picture,” she said, catching him gazing at her face instead of the skyline. “It’ll last longer.”
To her evident amusement, he did, clicking away with his phone like he could freeze this moment for all time.
Chapter 14
Electric candles, a bottle of champagne, and rose petals scattered around the suite did an amazing job of setting the mood.
