“Oh my God, did you already tell Trevor?” Danica sounded breathless, changes already echoing through her life.
This was the right move.
Leanne laughed. “I sure did. Why?”
Her friend’s voice came across equal measures amused and irate. “Because Titus claims he already knew! I’m adding him to the call, just a sec.”
Soon, Titus said “Hello?” like he wasn’t sure who all was involved in this chat.
Leanne said hey, as did Trev, then Danica moved forward. “Seriously, I call bullshit. You didn’t know anything! I was so careful.”
Titus startled Leanne by chuckling uncontrollably. Finally, he settled enough to respond. “Honey, your shop is the cleanest in the world. There’s never any oil or dust or any sign that mechanical objects have been taken apart. Your hands are pristine. Hell, half the time, you even have a manicure, and you didn’t even bring a toolbox the day you repaired my oven. How does that make sense for someone who supposedly fixes machines?”
“He has a point,” Trev said.
Though the other two couldn’t see her, Leanne nodded. “So does it change anything?” she asked, hoping she wasn’t about to witness Danica’s relationship falling apart.
“Not for me,” Titus said swiftly. “I’ll keep my mouth shut until the official stance changes. I guess it’s nice that she can stop hiding her…witchy stuff when I come over, though.”
“I did wonder why Leanne has a locked drawer in the bedroom,” Trev admitted.
She shot him an apologetic look. “You can look at it now. It’s just spell components. If you’re interested, I’ll show you how I do the glamour later.”
“Tonight, I’d rather do something else,” he whispered.
Not quiet enough, though.
“Okay, hanging up now,” Danica said hastily.
“Good talk,” Titus called. “And welcome to the modern world.”
Once they hung up, Leanne kissed Trev delicately on the chin, nuzzling her face against his with all the adoration she’d been hiding. “Thank you.”
“For what?”
“For loving me.”
He tasted her lips like there was no sweeter flavor. “That’s not something I could stop even if I wanted to, Butterfly. So I’ll just thank you in turn.”
“For what?” It was her turn to ask the question.
“Not breaking my heart.”
***
Even now, Trev could hardly wrap his head around everything he’d heard today.
I’m married to a witch. And I almost got hauled off to…wherever they keep mortals who know too much. That was probably the wrong word, but he wasn’t worried about vocabulary. Not with all this information to digest. Titus had said he kind of knew already or at least suspected. When Trev considered, it made sense. He’d only been in Fix-It Witches once, but the place gleamed with cleanliness, unlike any other repair shop he’d ever been in.
