“Why the fuck does she want to meet here?” Morgan whispered, as she pulled up to Berston Field House and noticed that the parking lot to the recreational center was jam packed. She didn’t even know why she had agreed to meet Nish. She wasn’t feeling her, lately, but after receiving a long apology text from her best friend, she had decided to at least hear Nish out. She had barely spoken to her at her surprise dinner the other night, and Morgan knew she would eventually have to clear the air between them. They had known each other for too long to let a man come between them. Right? That’s what good friends promised to never do - let dick divide what had taken years to build. Morgan was feeling Messiah, but she hadn’t heard from him since his pop up a few nights ago. Ethic was standing in their way, placing restrictions on who she could and couldn’t see, and she knew it was unlikely that Messiah would defy that. A crush wasn’t worth losing a lifelong friend, so she tucked her pride and forced herself out the car. She made sure to turn her location on her phone off, so Ethic wouldn’t see that she was within the city limits. Berston was a popular spot for pick-up basketball games that got out of control. Many bullets had rung out after the crowd had gotten too rowdy. She just hoped it didn’t happen today. It was her first day out the house, since getting her implants turned on, and she hoped she wasn’t biting off more than she could chew.

Morgan climbed out her car and, instantly, drew attention from some of the fellas that loitered in the parking lot. Her leather leggings were skin-tight, showing off her beautiful figure and the lace, cropped camisole she wore revealed her toned middle. She toned down her sexy with a duster that read, REAL GUCCI, in graffiti writing. Black, Valentino, block-heeled, combat boots finished her look. She had taken out her braids and her real hair fell to her shoulders, in a flawless silk press. She wrestled with the wind as it blew the style all out of place on her way to the door. Nish waited inside, thumbing through her iPhone, as Morgan approached. Morgan tapped her on the shoulder. Nish looked up, smiling.

“Hey, boo!” Nish’s greeting was genuine. “You look good!”

“I started not to meet your ass,” Morgan said, truthfully. She could barely hear herself in the loud building, so she didn’t know how she sounded. She was still getting used to her own voice. A look of shock covered Nish’s face because she had never heard her speak before.
