Dean was tall. Late-thirties if I had to guess. Older than Jay. He towered over my five-eleven frame by several inches. Dean was a big guy. His muscles strained his T-shirt. Both arms were tattooed, and his head was shaved in a closely cropped, military-style cut. But it was his eyes that made my knees weak and my stomach flipflop. I wasn’t ashamed to admit that Dean scared me a bit—a lot. I would have bet money he worked in law enforcement or was military. He had the whole authoritative persona about him.

“Glad you could join us.” Even his voice was aggressive and arresting.

I slunk into the vacant chair and avoided wiping the sweat from my brow. More trickled down the middle of my back, and I checked in with Jay as inconspicuously as possible to ensure this was all okay. Dean gave off this vibe, and it wasn’t as friendly as I’d hoped.

“I’ve been telling Dean all about your trial shoot today.”

“Oh. It was…” I shrugged. “Rough. But I guess I shouldn’t expect anything less when making out with my twin brother.”

“You were amazing. The camera loves you.”

“Good. Um… That’s good because the camera saw a whole lot of me.”

“The camera wasn’t the only one.”

Dean poured them more saké and tipped the bottle, silently asking if I’d like some too.

“No thanks. Not a fan. I’ll drink water.”

“Not even a beer?” Jay asked. “You seem nervous. Don’t be.”

He reached across the table and took my hand, stroking it with his thumb. Dean watched the action, but his face was unreadable. I couldn’t tell if he was gonna kill me for garnering his husband’s attention or if he was on board with this threesome thing like Jay.

Jay spied his husband and nibbled his bottom lip. “What did I tell you? Cute, huh? You should see him naked. I couldn’t take my eyes off him.”

Dean grunted and took his saké like a shot of whiskey, downing it in one fluid go.

Jay turned back to me. He didn’t seem bothered by his husband’s lack of response, so I assumed everything was still kosher.

“Have a beer. The Asahi is one of my favorites.”

“Maybe one. I have to drive home later.”

“You’re welcome to spend the night. We have a king-sized bed, and our flight doesn’t leave until noon.”

Again, I side-eyed Dean. His silent evaluation was unnerving.

“Oh. Maybe. I guess we’ll see where this goes. Right? I um … have school tomorrow, so I’d have to leave pretty early in the morning.”

“Sure. No problem.”

A waiter came with a pitcher of water and filled three large glasses on the table. He bowed and looked between us, asking for our orders.

It was then I noticed the menus on the table.
