The vague proposition he’d made that morning returned, and I rolled it over in my head. There was no sense telling Asher until I knew what Jay meant by it. By the sound of it, he was looking for some perverted peep show.
“Wanna make another easy ten grand?”
I clenched my jaw and scowled at myself in the mirror. The asshole knew I was desperate for money. Figures he’d exploit that and try and bribe me into his lewd plans.
“Knock, knock,” came a voice from outside the changing area.
“We’re dressed.” I put down the mirror just as Charlotte came around the curtain.
“I’d like to arrange dinner tonight, if you two are available. On me. I thought we could all do with a nice relaxing evening before the rest of us fly back home tomorrow. Do you two have plans?”
Asher and I shared a look, and he shrugged, turning back to Charlotte. “No. We can do dinner.”
“Excellent. I’ll have Jay pass on the address of the restaurant once they decide where we’re heading. We were thinking around six. Does that work for you?”
“Perfect,” Asher and I said at the same time.
I rolled my eyes when Charlotte giggled. “I hate when we do that.”
“It’s adorable,” Charlotte said as she let herself out of the changing area. “We’ll see you tonight, boys. Lewis and I are going to go through these shots this afternoon and see what we have.”
Asher and I collected our jackets and went back into the main studio area. Jay was tidying up—folding the sheets we’d destroyed on the bed, and packing props into a box—while Lewis barked orders at the two workers that had been there that morning as they wound cables and dismantled the set.
Jay caught sight of us and dropped the stack of pillows into a tote before crossing the room.
“Are you joining us for dinner?”
“Yeah.” Asher took a macho stance with his chest forward and chin high. “We’ll be there.”
“Good.” Jay eyed my brother before pinning me with a meaningful look. “Do you have a minute?”
“He doesn’t. We have stuff to take care of before tonight. We gotta go.” Asher crossed his arms and posed between Jay and me, and I almost snorted.
“Yeah, I’ve got a minute. Ignore the growly beast.” I removed Asher from my path and felt the distinct heat of his glare on the side of my face. I ignored him.
