- ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I had a few things on Julian. Not a ton, but knowing people who knew people was a way to ensure that Endgame could get out of situations. It was a risk because it wasn’t like Julian was an upstanding citizen or anything.
As Taylor slid under Endgame’s arm to help me help him stagger up to the apartment, I had regret. She wasn’t ready for this. For what I let myself be involved in because of him. As we waited for the elevator, she leaned forward so she could look at my face.
She was total support for me. I saw it then. Her unwavering belief in me. She would march right into hell if I asked her. And I felt like I had done just that. Her blue eyes connected with mine as the elevator doors opened.
I made sure to slide most of his weight onto me as we maneuvered him inside. “So, is Endgame his given name?”
I think she was trying to use his name to keep Endgame from falling completely unconscious again.
“No. Torin Rulle. But hell if anyone uses it.”
“That’s a cool name.” She checked Endgame over as we waited in the elevator as much as she could while still making sure to hold up her end.
“Yeah. It kind of is.” The elevator stopped and we got him out. We had a slippery moment when I was unlocking the door.
Endgame was slipping into a more boneless state. Taylor took the keys from me and I had to full-on bear hug Endgame to keep him upright.
Once we were inside, Axel came bull running at us. I had totally forgotten that we had a new pet guest.
Taylor put out her hand and tried to stop Axel, but he was a freight train. His tongue was everywhere, like it was a helicopter blade. I watched as his eyes showed more white than usual as his back legs tucked under him. Despite Taylor’s blocking hand, Axel’s face connected with Endgame’s crotch.
“Shit!” Endgame came alive with pain. He folded like a lawn chair. Taylor switched from helping Endgame to scooping up her huge dog.
It was like he manufactured four extra legs, and they were everywhere. “So sorry. Oh gosh. Super sorry.”
Axel whined and struggled to get to Endgame and me. Taylor wrestled him back into my room.
“You trying to kill me after I’m already dead?” His voice was husky and strained.
“You’re the only one that effectively tries to get you killed.” Now that he was awake, he was able to help me help him walk, albeit with one of his hands covering his dick.
All he did was groan as I got him to his bed. After depositing him onto his bare mattress, I propped up some pillows.
