The girls turned their attention to a table a few feet away where three heavily jeweled men sat. There was a flock of beautiful women already hovering around them. Money didn’t seem to be a thing to them the way they popped bottle after bottle of Dom Perignon and Cristal. They possessed all the earmarks of hustlers.
“See the chicks sweatin’ them? How we gonna get ’round them? What you wanna do, brody them?” Tender questioned. “We fuck ’round and be fightin’ up in here.”
“Yeah, how we gonna pull dat off?” Goldie chimed in.
“Follow me,” Kat announced with confidence. “Watch this!”
As Kat stormed toward the table like a scorned lover, she secretly hoped that this stunt wouldn’t backfire. Kat bumped, pushed and shoved her way through the crowd. She wore this wild look on her face that suggested she was crazy. Almost magically her path cleared.
“Damon!” she called out, saying the first name she could think of. “What da fuck you think you doin’ wit all these bitches ’round you like that? … Naw, naw, nigga, I ain’t goin’ fa it. I’m about ta fuck one of these hos up!”
The deeper she went into her act, the faster the other girls began to disperse. This looked like some baby mama drama and they wanted no part of it.
The dudes looked at one another like who in the hell was she talking to. They were clearly amused by the way Kat was coming toward them and the other pretty girls were fleeing from them.
“Shawty, you know one a us?” one man asked.
“Naw!” Kat admitted, coming out of her act. “But I’m tryin’ ta holla. And these bitches are in da way. You have ta excuse me, but I go hard fa what I want …”
“I see!” the man replied. “It’s all good, girl. Even though you ran all my friends away here …”
“Fuck them chicken heads. Me and my peoples iz all the women y’all gonna need tanite …”
Goldie and Tender stood back and watched Kat work it.
“Where y’all from?” someone else asked, figuring they were from somewhere up north.
“Philly!” came the response.
“Um, uh! I knew y’all wasn’t from here. Y’all straight gangster,” he said, clearly impressed. “Shawty, since y’all went through all that trouble ta holla. Pull up some chairs and I’ll show y’all a li’l southern hospitality ….”
Accepting their invitation, the girls gathered up three empty chairs and paired off. Making small talk, the group got to know one another better while the champagne flowed. Tender carefully nursed her drinks. Kat had schooled them earlier: They couldn’t get pissy drunk and work these dudes. Tender gave her nothing to worry about. But Goldie wasn’t sticking to the game plan. She downed glass after glass of champagne. As a consequence, Kat fumed.
