Chapters (26)
He had heard this all before from Kat. She was making a habit of stressing him about this bullshit. He didn’t like being placed in a position where he was forced to choose. Q was the man. He called the shots and he wanted to see whom he damn well pleased. To him, they all were hos. Quietly, he still liked Tender. It was no secret; he was still testing her water and still giving her money.
Kat had begun to take him personally, claiming him for herself. She began catching feelings from out of nowhere. To him, their relationship was strictly a sex thing, no more, no less. His baby’s mother made life a living hell for any female who got too close to him anyway. She ran countless beautiful women out of his life. They were unable to deal with her zany antics. She was a fatal-attraction type of female who never understood it was over between them. To her, it was just as if they were married till death do them part. She was his. Of course, Q led her on, sending her mixed signals by continuing to sleep with her every so often.
Q never succeeded in his ongoing attempts to make her miserable, to run her away. She tolerated his cheating heart, rationalizing to herself that she shared a bond with him that no other woman in the world could claim. They had a child together. His failure to break off their on-again, off-again relationship was something that he would later regret.
“Listen man, would you stop talkin’ ’bout dat?” he asked, in between puffs of his blunt. “Goddamn, what dat girl eva do ta you? … She don’t eva even mention ya name when she ’round me. But you always hatin’ on her …. You gotta lotta hate in ya blood. Na’mean?”
“Call it whatcha want,” she announced. “But you don’t know dis bitch like I know dis bitch. Jus’ ’cause you fuckin’ her, don’t make her no angel …. Dat ho got mo’ shit wit her than a li’l bit … don’t think she don’t …. She feel sum type a way ’bout us. “Dig, I ain’t know it was all like dat,” he stated. “But could you please do me a favor? And leave me outta it … gotta nuff drama dealin’ wit my baby’s momma …. Sound like it don’t got nuttin’ ta do wit me …. Dat shit wuz in da makin’ long befo’ I came along ….”
