Dear friends,
Well here we are again with Christmas almost upon us and another new book on the shelf. In this one, A Precious Gift, number six in my Days of the Week collection, we meet Holly Farthing and her loyal maid Ivy. Poor girls, I do put them through the wringer as usual but I do hope you will like it! In this one, we meet the suffragettes and find ourselves in France – but I can’t tell you any more because I don’t want to spoil it for you if you’ve skipped ahead.
Once again, A Maiden’s Voyage, which came out earlier in the year, made it into the Sunday Times bestsellers and stayed there for some weeks, thanks to you all. Your reviews were lovely and I so look forward to and enjoy hearing what you all think of my efforts! Each one makes all the time I spend locked away with my characters in my study so worthwhile, so please keep them coming.
Time goes by so quickly and I’ve no doubt by now, like me, you will all be furiously shopping for Christmas presents. Already the children are counting down until we can turn the house into Santa’s grotto once more and the excitement is mounting nicely. But then, as I’m sure you’ll all agree, the children make Christmas. I love the ritual on Christmas Eve of putting a mince pie out for Santa and a carrot and a dish of milk for Rudolph, not forgetting Santa’s glass of sherry. The looks on the children’s faces gets to me every time!
Again it has been a mixed year for me, starting with the death of a dear friend on New Year’s Eve last year. Pauline was a truly lovely lady, much loved and much missed by everyone that knew her, but we find comfort in knowing that hopefully she is in a better place, now free of pain.
This sad event was followed by a very happy one in August when we celebrated my son’s wedding. It was a truly beautiful day and the bride looked gorgeous, as did the little bridesmaids, who almost stole the show, bless them! And of course my son, Christian, looked very handsome too! Welcome to the family, Natalie. It’s a day we will never forget, although once it was over you could hardly believe all the months of work and preparation that went into it. It was over so quickly but worth every minute!
