When I first started writing The Night Before, I had no idea that Nikki Gillette would leap off the page and demand a story of her own, which became The Morning After. Then, of course, I couldn’t leave well enough alone as she and Pierce Reed’s story still hadn’t been told. Hence, the following book, Tell Me, which involves Nikki, her guilt over a good friend’s murder and her need for the truth.

But the series doesn’t end with Tell Me. There’s now a fourth book in the series,The Third Grave. This time Nikki finds herself eyeball deep in a mystery and cold case that has fueled speculation and gossip for years. Twenty years earlier the Duval sisters vanished and the police have been baffled ever since. Now, in the aftermath of a severe hurricane, three little graves have been discovered, two with bodies, one empty. Has the final resting place of the Duval sisters been found? Will the old case be finally solved? If so, why is the third grave empty? Had the third grave ever had an occupant? Had the intended victim managed to get away? Or are the graves part of another macabre crime?

The exposure of the unlikely burial spots has all of Savannah on edge. Even so Nikki, despite warnings from the police and most especially her husband, can’t stop from investigating. And the more she digs, the more danger she uncovers. Far too late she realizes that she, too, is caught in the cross-hairs of a twisted killer.

Will there be more stories in the Savannah series after The Third Grave? At this point I don’t know, but with Nikki Gillette, it seems, there’s always a tale to be told, so we’ll just have to see.
