John B was biologically seven when he entered the orphanage. Brown hair, brown eyes, Type-O blood, the same as his genetic donor. While specimens from early phases were inherently anti-social and intellectually stunted, children from wave nine matured rapidly and were drawn to social interaction – despite expressing initial inhibitions strategically utilized to disarm defense mechanisms among traumatized individuals or to subvert the hierarchical nature of social networks.
John B was placed in a dorm among five other boys his age. As part of a control group, these boys had experienced minimal trauma in the way of physical or sexual predation, and had been orphaned from stable, respectable families lost through non-violent and/or natural means. By the end of the first week, John B had indoctrinated himself into the group, earning an elevated sense of trust and empathy above standard expectations.
Days in the orphanage were very regimented. Early rise, exercise, personal hygiene, breakfast, group education, lunch, group education, group therapy, exercise, quiet study, meditation, supper, personal hygiene, sleep. By the end of the third week, John B had convinced another orphan to exchange cots with him, moving from the outer edge to the center of the room. Unlike the other boys, John B required little sleep and could function after staying up for several consecutive nights. Hidden cameras observed him walking silently between the rows of cots at night, stopping beside each one and studying the sleeping child for periods of an hour or more. He was observed whispering into the ears of his bunkmates without ever waking one, and exhaling into their open mouths. Conversely, he was observed inhaling their exhalations. He would place his hands on their head, mouth, throat, chest, stomach, pelvis, and reach underneath to cup their scrotum.
John B’s hair grew more rapidly than his peers. His resting heart rate was 140 and core body temperature was 104 degrees Fahrenheit. His IQ score fluctuated randomly from 6 to 162, with various measures in between. On one test, he provided answers in non-sequential numbers and letters that were later found to mathematically describe the rate at which the universe expanded and propose a date for a sudden reversal and period of rapid contraction. On another test he created a coded language that, once deciphered, read, MY MOMMA SPANKS ME BOTTOM RED RED RED SO NOW ME BLUE BLUE BLUE.
