Franck felt himself come alive again as he scrolled through the sites which opened relatively easily on his smartphone. Having access to all his data again, he was in his element. He desperately needed the phone that he always kept within reach. Even though the connection wasn’t that strong, he browsed avidly for more than half an hour, time passing without him noticing. He felt like a smoker who hasn’t had a cigarette for forty-eight hours and grabs the first packet he can find. There was nothing very interesting in the news. The same American blockbusters were dominating the industry as they always did in August: sequels, prequels or spin-offs that were declared successes, a raft of films whose only purpose was to push others out. It had become pointless to release a film in the summer. He let himself be drawn in by clickbait on his news feeds, headlines that directed him to a news story, then to an article or video he wasn’t really interested in. On the other hand, there wasn’t much in his email inbox. He was relieved not to see the names Liem or Travis, but they must have scheduled the meeting with the guys from Netflix, unless they were doing it on Skype. He would never do a Skype meeting, and certainly not to establish contact for the first time.
