Using her sword, she pointed to the crewmen nearest me, one by one. “You took our men,” she said flatly.
“Your men?” I cocked my brow, gaze volleying to those she’d marked. Naven and Delmar stood to my right with Ketner. Bernard, Smitter, and Lanard stood to my left. The others crowded behind us.
Krinny stepped up first. Her eyes narrowed. She extracted her dagger and pointed the tip at Bernard’s heart. “That stout one belongs to me.” Quick as a viper strike, she sliced his scabbard belt, and his weapon dropped to the ground with a thud.
Bernard's eyes widened at being unarmed. But once Krinny jumped onto him, his meaty arms enclosed around her. She wrapped her long legs around his waist, hooking her boots together, and laid a big smooch on his mouth.
The men hooted and hollered, clapping wildly.
I covered my mouth with my hand to hold back a chuckle. “Is that all?” I watched Krinny and Bernard wobble back and forth as they smothered each other. When the two of them inevitably fell over, the crowd roared with raucous laughter.
Lou tried to conceal her own amusement with a cough. “Not exactly. Via?”
Via stepped forward and waggled her fingers at the brothers. At the same time, they moved forward. She started with Naven and kissed him passionately, threading her fingers into his hair. While her tongue explored his mouth, her free hand reached out for Delmar, and in a breath, she twisted to have her taste of the other brother. She peppered Delmar’s face with kisses, landing on his lips last.
I gaped, stunned as the crew, whose wolf whistles had died out into choked sounds of shock.
Via released Delmar, and the brothers turned to me. With faces flushed and lips swollen, they said in unison, “We share everything.”
Via winked. Her violet eyes sparkled with mischief.
I nodded because really, what else could I say? Good for them. Turning back to Lou, I crossed my arms. “I see. Is there anyone else I’ve stolen?”
She held up a finger. “Yes, there’s more. We believe Ketner and Hannah should work together to create more appealing medicines. That way, when Ketner heals our crew, no one vomits up their remedies. I think they’d make a good team.”
Hannah moved forward with Dara. Her hands rested at the young girl’s shoulders. “I’ve got some ideas, Captain, that I think you and Ketner will like. We can heal more of the wounded if they are able to keep the treatment down.” Hanna winked at Ketner, and he blushed. “Also, I speak for one not old enough to.” Hannah’s head bowed toward Dara, who giggled. “When she is of appropriate age, she’d like to be courted by that one.” Hannah pointed to Lanard, who had hearts in his eyes. His heels lifted as he leaned forward. I prayed he didn’t fall.
