Apparently, she was going to have to put some distance between them if they were to get anything accomplished today. Otherwise, she had a feeling they’d spend the day repeating last night rather than meeting anyone. The predatory look on his face as he watched her walk to their pile of belongings only confirmed her assumption.
“You didn’t have to destroy my clothing, you know,” she tossed over her shoulder, trying to lighten the mood as she searched for a clean pair of undergarments and leggings.
“Yes, I did.”
She paused her rummaging to flick an amused look at him, raising one brow. He sounded stupidly proud of himself. “Well, now you get to fit shopping into your schedule again since you’ve dropped me down to only one pair.”
“Considering I don’t plan on you needing to wear them very often, I’d say one is all you need,” he said, rolling his tongue over his bottom lip, eyes locked on her bare legs.
She squeezed her thighs together. How she could be so sore, yet so ready to do it again at just one look, was something she probably needed to contemplate later. But gods, the way he’d touched her—
A sharp rap on the door had her jumping out of her skin. Jaeros! Panicking and praying he didn’t threaten to barge in like last time, she let the blanket fall to her feet and snatched up her clothing, yanking them on and ignoring the slight twist in them. She’d fix them later.
Grabbing one of Jaren’s tunics, she’d barely pulled it down over her head before another knock echoed on the door. “Shit, hold on, I’m almost ready,” she said in a rush, but the sound of the lock sliding back rather than Jaren’s reply had her heart stopping.
Wide-eyed, with her hair an untamed nest all over her shoulders, she whipped toward the door, the too-large tunic slipping off one shoulder as she did. Her pulse took off so fast she feared she might pass out.
Jaren stood at the door to their room, casually leaning against the frame, and naked as the day he was born.
His scar-flecked skin, defined back, and well-toned ass was normally a sight she’d drool over, but it was quickly ruined when he flung the door wide open, revealing two males on the other side.
He grinned at them, the expression anything but kind. “And here I was thinking you were only lacking honesty and integrity, but apparently your patience is also missing,” he said, standing to the side so they could step in.
Her mouth fell open. What the fuck was he playing at? He was fucking naked. If they wouldn’t have already guessed by their combined scents still lingering in the air, they’d certainly know now.
Jaeros stepped through the doorway first, a frown marring his face as he noticed Jaren’s busted lip before flicking his confused gaze over to her. His blue eyes widened, and he choked, stopping so suddenly she’d have thought she was the one standing proudly naked.
