His eyes shot open, and he launched up, barely avoiding cracking his forehead against the face that’d been looming over him just a second before.

“Veralie!”

He shifted his legs to stand, but two arms wrapped around his body, keeping him from rising to his feet. He struggled, blindly throwing his limbs out in an attempt to get free.
