- ABOUT THE AUTHOR
His low rumble of laughter echoed around us. Dimples on display and those glorious green eyes squinting with mischief. Danged if he wasn’t the most handsome guy ever. “You’ve certainly made me wait long enough for something that you want to just get it over with.”
I smoothed the crisp collar of his shirt and warned, “Vance.”
“Just so we’re clear, I guarantee you won’t ever get over me kissing you.” He placed a finger against my lips to hold in my retort. “And I won’t ever be getting over it either.” Vance slid his finger away from my lips, feathering along my cheek before coming to a halt to cup the back of my neck, just under the loose bun. He used this hold to gently tilt and angle my head as he leaned toward me. Warm breath met my lips. “There’s just no getting over you, Austin Foster.”
My entire body trembled when the heat of his breath was replaced by the cool of his lips. It was just a delicate press to the corner of my mouth. Then he repeated the action against the center of my lips. I’d pressed this exact same kiss to my siblings’ cheeks or foreheads, but never did it leave me dizzy. I returned the gentle press, but when Vance changed the angle and deepened the kiss, the only thing I could do was follow his lead.
This! This was dessert. The most indulgent dessert I’d ever tasted. And as he leaned away to end the kiss, I insisted on a second helping. If I was going to act my age for just one night, I was adamant about enjoying my fill of Vance Cumberland’s lips. And boy, was he in a giving mood.

After a gluttonous amount of kissing, we agreed it was best to stop while we were ahead. The ride home was mainly silent. I sat beside Vance, holding his hand, relishing the newly experienced tingle on my lips that sort of reminded me of chapped lips but in a pleasant way.
“If you keep licking your lips like that, I’m gonna have to pull the truck over.” Vance brought our entwined hands to his mouth and placed a kiss on the back of mine.
I giggled like a lovesick fool. “We’re on my driveway. You’re gonna pull over in the field?”
He smiled against my skin, placing another kiss before dropping our hands to rest on my lap. “I will if I have to.”
Snickering, I sassed, “Don’t even think you’re rounding the bases with me, Vance Cumberland. First base is as far as this is going.”
