It is a particular delight to mark the Hogarth Press centenary with a new commission. Mark Haddon, a long-term admirer of Woolf’s work, has written ‘St Brides Bay’, a story which joins ‘The Mark on the Wall’ in this new edition of Two Stories. As many of Haddon’s fans know, he is also an artist, and his linocut portrait of Virginia Woolf appears here.
Hogarth is now one of 250 imprints which make up the world’s largest publisher, Penguin Random House. As part of that publishing jigsaw, our editors continue to read and commission new writing, and to serve its established authors and heritage. The Woolfs understood that publishing is where gut feeling meets good business; we aim to continue that tradition today.
