At 4:48, Detective Vowell entered the Shaw home and executed search warrant. He noted suspect was “extremely pale…shaky…dilated pupils…signs of amphetamine influence…pulling her hair over face and would not make eye contact.”
Haywood escorted Shaw to his vehicle. She did not resist.
Vowell undertook search of bedroom.
He found dresses under the pillow, records and books under the mattress, and a suitcase under the bed. He seized these items, which are believed to have belonged to Justine K.
Suspect becomes particularly distressed when asked to explain how Justine K.’s possessions ended up in her bedroom.
A white dress/uniform with torn hem was also seized. Material appears identical to torn piece of white cloth found in victim’s wound.
Clothing is currently under analysis at crime lab.
Writings by both accused are enclosed and may provide motive as well as attest to violent and antisocial tendencies on part of both accused. Of particular note is Shaw’s jotting “FTW,” which is juvenile slang for “Fuck the World.” She has also written, “Fever is nature’s engine which she brings into the field to remove her enemy.” The words “remove her enemy” have been heavily underlined.
Executed search warrant also produced a Polaroid photo. Said photo appears to have been taken in the vicinity of the Royal Victoria Wax Museum. Shaw has her arm around unidentified girl in tan raincoat. Unidentified girl appears to match photos of “TAHITI” (last name unknown), who is known to the police and has two prior records for solicitation for the purposes of prostitution. When asked who the girl in the Polaroid is, Shaw denied knowledge of minor prostitute named Tahiti. Whereabouts of “Tahiti” are currently unknown.
Of note is that Polaroid shows Shaw clearly brandishing a Victorinox knife with an extracted blade. The knife is in her left hand, and she is smiling broadly. The knife matches the description provided by Mount Douglas Principal DAVE LOCKE. We find Principal Locke credible, and he will testify.
Photo and corroboratory eyewitness evidence verify Shaw was owner of knife.
Further analysis and medical reports could verify that said knife was weapon used in attack on the person of Dirk Wallace.
When asked if she owned a knife, she replied, “My dad gave me a Swiss Army knife for my birthday when I turned fourteen.” It is of note that the wounds sustained by victim could not credibly have been inflicted by a Swiss Army knife.
Last, in regard to the victim, Shaw initially said she “doesn’t know the guy.” Upon further questioning, she however stated that victim Wallace called her “a bitch” on some street somewhere when she was with a girl named “Chalice,” who is now at “a school for maps.” Detectives are unable to find any records for a girl named “Chalice.” No “schools for maps” exist in British Columbia.
However, if the bitch incident can be verified, Shaw has reason for animus toward the victim. Insult also provides motive to harm his person.
