- About the Author
“I’d do anything to make sure my brother finds the happiness he deserves, and I’ve always thought you two were perfect together,” she said.
“I owe you big time, sis. In a good way.”
“Just be happy. I’ve got to run. My flight leaves in less than two hours. It’s going to be tight as it is. I’ll talk to you both soon.” She blew them a kiss and ran off.
The PR team tugged Kelly from one stage to the other, shooting photos to go with the morning show spots and other promotion materials that would go out over the next few days. Then Martin came over.
“We’ve got a special Valentine’s Day dinner for you two as well. Your ride is ready for you,” he said. “I’ll take you.”
They followed him to the elevator. Martin pressed a button and stood in front of the panel while Andrew and Kelly stepped inside.
Kelly wobbled and reached for the wall. “Is this elevator going up or down?”
“Drunk on victory,” Andrew teased, but when the elevator doors opened, they weren’t in the parking garage, they were on the roof, and there was a helicopter waiting for them.
“No way,” Kelly said.
Martin swung his arm out to the rooftop. “Your ride is here to take you for a quick tour of our gorgeous city and then to dinner. Afterward, Brenda will meet you and take you both back to your hotels.”
“Thank you, Martin,” Kelly gushed. “I can’t believe all of this.”
“You earned it. Our ratings are going to be through the roof. I just know it.” He grinned. “I feel good about this.”
Andrew and Kelly jumped in the helicopter and put on the headphones as they were told. The ride over the city was exhilarating. The pilot pointed out some of the main attractions.
“The Statue of Liberty,” Kelly said. “I can’t believe it. I’ve always wanted to see it.” She giggled with excitement.
How had I forgotten how much I loved that smile of hers? Kelly is what I’ve been missing in my life. If I can get her back, I’ll never risk losing her again.
Andrew grabbed her hand and pulled it into his lap. “This is amazing.”
The helicopter dipped and then lowered on top of a building. A man in a black suit helped them out of the chopper and whisked them off to the side as it took off without them.
“I can’t believe we were just flying in that thing,” Kelly said. “Crazy.”
“Your dinner is ready,” the man in black said, taking her by the elbow.
