Inspiration

“Where does inspiration come from?” he asked.

She placed her warm hands on his chest and smiled.

My Hope for You

I hope you find freedom

The kind of freedom where the gravity of your worries dissolves

and a river of joy runs in your veins

I hope you find purpose

The kind of purpose that doesn’t need to be chased

but is discovered within your very breath

I hope you find trust

The kind of trust that embraces every moment

and can find the twinkling star within a blanket of darkness

But most of all

I hope you find love

The kind of love that awakens the soul and reminds you of your true nature

Give What You Wish to Receive

If you want unconditional love

Learn to give love unconditionally

If you want honesty

Learn to meet the truth inside yourself honestly

If you want true peace

Learn to truly embrace your every piece

Love Is Letting Go

I used to hold on to our moments of bliss

And tuck them away in my heart for safekeeping

Then I realized sometimes love is letting go

Our paths will merge again one day

But for now I smile and think back

To simpler days spent welcoming the morning sun

By kissing its rays on your skin

What Are Your Intentions?

I try but find myself disappointed again

By the shallow intentions of these men

They dream of nights spent skin to skin

But they do not dare touch the heart within

It is far worse when they wear the mask of someone who cares

As though I cannot see through that hungry stare

I love myself enough to not seek the validation

Of a man who hides behind the image of vulnerability

When it is really just a presentation

Mother Earth

If you want to know how we are treating our world

Look to how we are treating our women

Borrowed

All that I have lost

Has taught me I never had anything to begin with

Even this body of mine is a borrowed sanctuary

It was when I stopped needing to belong to anything

That I suddenly belonged to everything

Madness

The difference between those who are mad

And those of a sane mind

Is that the sane ones are better at pretending

The artist uses their madness

To fuel the flames of their imagination

Nothing Is Worth Sacrificing Your Joy

I used to ask, “What if?”

I used to ask, “How will I?”

I used to ask, “Is it possible?”

I threw all my worries in a pile

And sparked a match on them

The embers that burned so fiercely

Became the fire from which I danced

Community

Sometimes you meet people, and you immediately get past all the small talk and normal niceties. You find out what puts a sparkle in their eye, what they have been through and the strength it taught them. It takes a certain kind of courage to drop beneath the part of ourselves we’re used to presenting. To see and be seen. To feel and be felt. To hear and be heard. This is the double-edged sword of vulnerability—if you avoid it, you avoid the opportunity for lifelong connections. Vulnerability is what we crave most and what we fear most. Everyone has a story that is worth being heard. The key is to be brave enough to tell ours and compassionate enough to listen to theirs.
