Most of the furniture could be sold with the place, but there were a few things that she wanted to keep. Anna’s bedroom mirror, for instance, a full length wooden-framed, vintage piece which she now knew, thanks to the diaries, was given to her by her parents on her wedding day. It was a very flattering mirror and Penny thought it might look nice in her own little cottage. She didn’t think Elle would mind, and if she did, tough. She should have been here to do this too.
Penny hadn’t heard from Elle since she left and she didn’t think Ned had either. It had been a week almost, and not a word. She supposed that Elle was angry at what Penny had said to her on the last morning. She felt a stab of guilt for mentioning Rob. And what she’d said about Elle being selfish hadn’t exactly been true either. It wasn’t fair to blame her sister for anything, really.
