- CHAPTER 1
He opened his eyes to see Jill McDade standing before him, holding Molly’s ball and stroking her as she nuzzled against her leg.
“Hi,” Wyatt said.
“You weren’t home. I figured you guys might be here.”
“You could’ve just called.”
“I wanted to see you.”
She sat beside him on the bench, her face creased with concern.
“Ray, I don’t know how to tell you this, or if I should, but—” She cupped her hands to her face.
“What is it, Jill?”
“Ray—” McDade swallowed “—I think you could be right.”
“Could be right about what?”
“That Danny’s alive.”
AUTHOR’S NOTE
I hope you enjoyed The Hollow Place, which features Ray Wyatt. Ray is featured in three books. Along with The Hollow Place, he appears in Into the Fire, and Requiem, which completes the trilogy. The Ray Wyatt series is loosely drawn upon my experiences as a reporter. If you liked The Hollow Place, I hope you will consider following Ray in the other stories.
In bringing this story to you, I benefitted from the hard work and support of a lot of people.
My thanks to my wife Barbara and to Wendy Dudley for their invaluable help improving the tale.
Thanks Laura and Michael.
And a very special thanks to Tracy Turner and Jackie Olson for going above and beyond.
I want to thank readers. For without you, a book remains an untold tale. Thank you for setting your life on pause and taking the journey. I deeply appreciate my audience around the world and those who’ve been with me since the beginning who keep in touch. Thank you all for your very kind words. I hope you enjoyed the ride and will check out my earlier books while watching for my next one.
Feel free to send me a note. I enjoy hearing from you. While it may take some time, I try to personally respond to all messages.
