- About the Author
“That’s weird since he’s been with you when you’ve done dumb things, like in Vegas.”
“Yes, well, he gives me shit, but he also lets me hang myself with my own rope when necessary.” Tucker laughed. “In Vegas, he told me I would regret every minute I spent there that I wasn’t trying to get to know you.”
“Yet, I found you both in a casino, picking up chicks.”
“He tried really hard to talk me out of my own stupidity,” Tucker insisted. “I wish I had listened, instead of being stubborn. I need you to know, it had nothing to do with you. Some of the things I said to you, I didn’t mean them either. It’s just…”
“I know,” I told him in order to let him off the hook. “You already explained everything. I understand. There is literally no need to rehash it.”
He grinned at me again. “Good, because rehashing shit sucks.”
Chapter 18

“Is Tucker staying here tonight or are you going to his place?” Luna bent down to put her shoes on as she asked.
“He has to go out of town for a few days on business,” I told her and couldn’t hide the wince I made as the confession slipped free. It shouldn’t feel like a confession. Hell, I shouldn’t have been plagued with a nervous stomach either, but my husband was on his way to Helsinki again. The city where his ex-girlfriend lived, where he’d planned on proposing to her at one point, was a sore spot for me. I worried that he would see her again and someone would get a picture of it or video, or worse, no one would, and I’d be left to wonder if anything really happened.
“You don’t trust him,” Luna stated as she watched me trying to work through everything in my head.
“In theory, I want to, but last time he was there…”
“I get it. I’d be worried too. It’s normal. Don’t you dare feel bad for having doubts. You guys aren’t there in your relationship yet. It’s only been like three weeks since you agreed to try to make the marriage work and turn it into a real relationship, right?” I nodded. “Have you two even had sex yet?”
I shook my head. “Not yet. We’ve done other things. Lots of other things,” I confirmed as she grinned at me.
“Honey, I knew that much. I’ve heard you.”
I shrugged, not the least bit embarrassed by that. “But we haven’t actually had sex. What if he’s tired of waiting and she shows up?”
“Didn’t she sleep with his dad?” Luna whispered the question which made me laugh.
“Why are you whispering? There’s literally no one else here to hear you.”
“I don’t know,” she shrugged. “I always whisper when something is a secret. I still can’t believe his own father would do that to him.”
“I can. That whole family seems to be a bunch of snakes. That’s the other thing that worries me about this trip. What if they’re trying to set him up again so that I’ll ask for that annulment or maybe so that he will be the one to finally end things?”
