- About the Author
Tucker tossed me onto the bed and laughed as I bounced twice before settling in. I stared at him indignantly, since I had almost impaled myself with a forkful of French Toast thanks to his efforts. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Nothing,” he insisted, but the fact that he was also pulling his shirt from his body told a different story. “I think you needed a break, maybe a little reward after showing me the error of my ways about breakfast foods. I still don’t like bacon, but we’ll never get divorced over that. It’s time I showed you why that will never happen.”
It was my turn to laugh, especially since he sounded so serious as he spoke. “Do you really think you have the skills in bed that it will take to keep me from hating the fact that you don’t like the Nation’s favorite breakfast essential?”
“I’d hardly call it a breakfast essential. Most people would probably say that being thrown some sausage for breakfast was far more appealing,” he managed to get out deadpan as he grabbed hold of himself through the boxers, which was the only article of clothing left on his body at that point.
“Oh my God!” I choked out amidst my laughter. You did not just make a ‘throw me the sausage’ reference while grabbing your junk. You are too much.”
“You like it,” he teased as he crawled up the bed to where I was still lying since he’d carried me in and tossed me there.
“I think you might be overestimating your worth, Mr. Tucker.”
“You married me, so clearly you’re okay with whatever I have to offer.”
I didn’t know what to say to that, considering I didn’t marry him for anything else other than to be a shield that would guard me from having to put myself out there and live my life. It made sense at the time, but now, I began to feel a little differently. Especially as Tucker began his attempt at seducing me, and I allowed it to happen.
“Tuck, I hate to break up the party you have going on in there, but I wasn’t at your place this morning just to scrounge some breakfast and clean your kitchen. We have a meeting at the office that you can’t miss.” I didn’t know whether to thank Wes for saving me or shank him for interrupting.
“Damn, I forgot all about that.” Worried eyes met mine. “Do you want to hang out here until I get back?”
All I could picture was the last girl – that I knew of – who he had supposedly asked to hang around until he got back. I burst out laughing at his offer as a result. “I can promise you that I won’t be waiting naked on your couch with a bottle of champagne between my legs, so no. I’m going to pass and get home. Besides, I have class on Monday to study for.”
“Okay, well, how about you take my car and I’ll just catch a ride with Wes?”
